The Scout Squad is an M1A marketed toward law enforcement users. It has an 18 -inch (46 cm) barrel, a forward-mounted optical
Sep 24, 2011 · In handling the rifles before I purchased, I almost talked myself in to the full size M1A mainly due to the sight picture. Handle them both or all three, if you can before you purchase, you can't really go wrong with either in my opinion. You will have a blast with either one. I have been well pleased with my M1A Scout. I have a Springfield Armory M1A Scout, and am looking for an optic to mount on the forward rail. I have been leaning toward the Burris Scout 2-7x, but I have also been looking at the various red dot and reflex sights out there. The Vortex red dot also looks interesting. I want something th Leupold VX Freedom 1.5-4x Scout Scope. The Leupold 1.5-4x is my favorite scout scope out of the three. It’s about the same price as the Burris but has a smaller range of magnification. Since it’s a scout scope I think 4x is perfectly serviceable for the range and speed a scout rifle brings. Quick Stats: Magnification: 1.5-4x; Eye Relief: 6 M1A Scope Mount, Scout Configuration. The GG&G M1A Scout Scope Mount is perfect for setting up your rifle with a red dot scope or long eye relief magnified scope. It easily installs in the cut out of the upper factory handguard. Lots of mediocre mounts available, and just a few good mounts for the M14/M1A. The Leuplod VX-R series is just another illuminated scope, very nice piece of kit. Though IMO not really suitable on a Scout set up due to their short eye relief and tight eye box. You can't really shoot booth eyes open with these like with a real RDS or Scout scope.

buy it if you want a true scout. But if you think the Garand is a near perfect rifle that would be absolutely perfect with a magazine, a little less weight, a handier length, and some modern optics, then the M1A Scout is it. Of all the guns in my collection, it's my favorite. jason-- "Listen, my boy, I can't abide children. Jun 02, 2005 · The Socom and Scout are both M1A rifles. The M1A is a trademark name and Springfield Armory owns it. The M1A is a copy of the M14. I only say this because of the subject "SOCOM, Scout, or M1A- which one?" Springfield Armory rifles have known quality control issues. SA admits not all their receivers are mil specs. On Scout I this was the plastic rib that came on the Remington 600. Jun 04, 2010 · Can anyone recommend some optics options for my M1A Scout Squad rifle? It has a forward mounted rail. I want to be able to co-witness the iron sights thru the optic sight. I think that means no magnification on the optics but I'm not sure. I don't have any real purpose for the rifle other than recreational plinking at 50 to maybe 300 yards max. I never had a scout, have a nm m1a, never shot it lol too perty, but i did have a socom 1, threw on a wood stock and ditched the rails, great gun, never let me down, and hand down more fun to shoot than the standards ive shot, and up to a 100 yrds and a lil further, i didnt see much of a difference. Oh yeah the scouts do have the "cool" factor. Mar 03, 2011 · Both are commercial hobby rifles that are a hoot at the range.
